Prysmian Group supporting CityFibre’s UK full fibre rollout

Full-fibre provider CityFibre, which aims to reach 5m UK homes in more than 37 cities and towns by 2025, has closed a strategic supplier agreement with Prysmian Group. Initially, 1 million homes in 12 UK cities and towns will be provided with Gigabit capable broadband by the end of 2021.

CityFibre provides a portfolio of active and dark fibre services to its customers, including service integrators, enterprise and consumer service providers, local authorities and mobile operators.

Prysmian is supplying optical cable and connectivity solutions for underground and aerial applications, as part of a multi-million-pound, two-year deal. This will support the London-based firm’s growing rollout of a 1Gb/s Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network. The deal is part of the operator’s €2.79bn investment strategy.

CityFibre aims to develop ’Gigabit Cities’, which provide consumers as well as local business, government, health and education sectors with state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, capable of meeting their data connectivity and communication needs for decades to come.
