Prysmian secures project for submarine power cable links in the Venetian Lagoon

The Group realised also the former high voltage submarine cable project linking Venice, Murano and Mestre

Milan, 2 June, 2016 - Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, has been awarded a new contract worth approximately € 34 million (plus options for a second cable link in value of approximately € 25 million) by Terna Rete Italia S.p.A. – the power transmission grid operator in Italy – for submarine power cable links in the Venetian Lagoon.

The project is remarkably important for the strengthening of the high voltage power transmission grid in the Venice area and includes two 14 km and 6 km long High Voltage Alternate Current (HVAC) 132 kV cable links.

The cables will be produced in the Arco Felice plant, near Naples. Commissioning is scheduled in 2017.
