Giancarlo Pedote immediately took the lead with his proto Prysmian 747 in one of the toughest races of the year.

Giancarlo Pedote, skipper of Prysmian ITA 747, won the Pornichet Select 2014 second regatta of the Atlantic Class Mini 6.50 and first race valid for the Championnat de France "Promotion" Course au Large. It is the second victory of 2014 for Pedote, on two races sailed.

The Pornichet Select is one of the toughest races of the year, with its 300-mile solo path between the islands and buoys in the southern coast of Brittany and the Vendée coast.

Giancarlo immediately took the lead with his proto Prysmian 747 and led throughout the entire race, managing the advantage gained. Pedote crossed the finish line at 11:39 and 15 seconds after 46 hours and 20 minutes of race.

The competition was held in light wind conditions, almost always below 15 knots.

"It's good", said Giancarlo, "because I could sail in these conditions where the boat still has potential to grow. But I am satisfied, because I'm learning how to manage the boat always a little better even in these light airsIt 's been great to participate in the Pornichet Select as the first solo race of the year because it has an interesting format: 300 miles with no much time to sleep. Thus represents a great entrainement to longer regattas. We faced two very cold nights, because of the canticyclone that is installed in the Bay of Biscay; at times it was necessary to maneuver not to cool down."

"The boat is ready, there are upgrades to do, but overall I'm satisfied. I'm happy with this victory: it is the fourth time I participate in this race, and has always been a progression: sixth, fifth, second and first today. I thank the sponsors for supporting me and for continuing to follow me in my project".
