Prysmian and Human Foundation launch the “Technology for Human Beings” degree thesis competition.

Aimed at students in engineering and physics faculties, the competition focuses on technologies for sustainable development.

Milan, 23 May 2014. Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, in partnership with Human Foundation, which operates in the social innovation field, is promoting the “Technology for Human Beings” degree thesis competition, aimed at students on three-year and master’s degree courses in Italian engineering and physics faculties.

The competition, which is aimed particularly at students who have focused on the applicability of new technologies for sustainable development and who analyse such topics from a technical standpoint and in terms of their application in developing contexts and countries, will result in a prize being awarded to a maximum of six degree theses.

A Scientific Committee will select three short-degree and three master’s degree theses, written in Italian or English, which have already been presented in the twelve months prior to the competition or are to be presented by September 2014. Cash prizes are provided for the six winning theses, plus a six-month internship in Prysmian for the top winners in each category.

The final awards ceremony will take place during the Human Foundation’s Annual Meeting on27 October 2014.

The Scientific Committee evaluating the theses will be made up of experts nominated by the Prysmian Group and Human Foundation and presided over by Cristiana Scelza, Prysmian Group Energy Research and Development Director, Roberto Galimberti, Vice President of Human Foundation and an expert in electronic engineering, who was previously a lecturer in Informatics and Telecommunications at the Politechnic of Milan, and by Bruno Castellini, a Director of Human Foundation and an expert in Market and Company Law.

Within a context of socially responsible commitment linked to the area in which it operates, with this competition the Prysmian Group wishes to promote innovative research into sustainable technologies linked to the fields of application of its own business, offering an economic and concrete training opportunity to young people who distinguish themselves in these fields.
