Prysmian to showcase VerTV™, the new optimized system for use in satellite TV via fibre cabling at the Anga exhibition – Cologne May 3rd-5th

Prysmian Cables and Systems- leader mondiale nel settore dell’energia e delle telecomunicazioni – parteciparà ad ANGA

Milan   -   29/04/2011 - 12:00 AM

Prysmian Cables & Systems, leading worldwide player in the energy and telecommunications cable market - will participate at ANGA, the major European exhibition focusing on cable, broadband and satellite communication in Cologne from May 3rd to 5th. As a result of the on-going merging process between Prysmian and Draka, the two Companies will be both present at the exhibition with an enlarged product offer for the communications market. The Group shows an increased presence in the telecom business across EMEA, North and South America, and China, and is now the leader in optical cables with global fibre production facilities, and proprietary fibre production technology.

Prysmian will be exhibiting its latest, up to date range of cables and systems with a strong focus on the Fibre-to-the-Home sector including the first appearance in Germany of Prysmian’s VerTV™ system – designed specifically for Satellite TV applications

Satellite TV, which has traditionally used coaxial/copper cable for the final customer connection, is gradually migrating towards the use of fibre optic technology, driven by the ever growing demand for new high bandwidth services offered within the market. The transmission capacity of fibre is basically unlimited, and due to their high strength, small size and extreme flexibility, fibre optic cables can be easily installed in the reduced spaces often present in the domestic housing environment.

In response to this need Prysmian has undertaken an extensive programme of product development aimed at producing an optimized system for fibre TV cabling. The VerTV™ system is the result of this work and is a testimony to Prysmian's experience in optical fibres, cables and systems. Designed to be compatible with every Multi Dwelling Unit TV cabling requirement, it consists of pre-connectorised patchcords, floor boxes and a dedicated mini-connector which, thanks to its reduced dimensions, allows easy installation within existing ducts.

All parts of the system have been designed in line with the strictest environmental requirements including full compliance with all safety and fire regulations for indoor cabling. The system has been designed with ease and efficiency of installation being key criteria. No splices - fusion nor mechanical - are required in the field due to the pre-connectorised approach. It is fast and simple to install and with the number of components kept to a minimum there is no need for the installer to maintain high stock levels of specific items.

A team of Prysmian’s technical experts will be present at the event to explain the features of the VerTV™ system together with all of the other Prysmian products which will be on display – visit Prysmian in hall 10, level 1, booth U48 to learn more.
