Sure-Stop™ RB500 Rope Brake Gets CSA Certification

Draka Elevator Products has announced that the new Sure Stop RB500 rope brake is certified to CSA B44.1/ASME A17.5 and has been verified to meet all relevant ASME A17.1 code requirements. It has also been tested and certified by NETEC (National Elevator Inspection andTestingCenter) report number T3-F35-09-009. is a clear advance in safety technology. It is designed to instantly arrest movement on elevator speeds of up to 500 ft/min.

The patented pending design (rec'd patent in Sept '12.) is a one-piece brake that operates electromechanically. No additional hydraulic unit is needed. Safety and performance are combined in a compact unit that fits in even the smallest places.

Installation is simple: four bolts anchor it in the machine room and a seven wire harness permits easy electrical connection.

The Sure-Stop rope brake carries a one-year warranty in the US and Canada against defects in material and workmanship.
