Prysmian to exhibit at “Middle East Electricity 2009” in Dubai (8-10th February)

Major power cable projects in the region and state-of-the-art techonology and products range on display at the company’s booth.

On Tuesday 10 Prysmian business executives will hold a seminar entitled: “The Right Partner for the Power Industry throughout the Middle East”.

 

Milan, 29 January, 2009 – Prysmian Cables & Systems, a worldwide leading player in the energy and telecommunication cables market, confirms the Middle East as a strategic region for its business growth and will be presenting the important projects that it’s carrying out in the Region along with the most recent innovations in the power cables and systems sector. At Prysmian’s booth (Stand ZE20, Za Abeel Hall), visitors will be able to learn about the Company’s broad range of state-of-the-art power cables, including Plant & Petrochem Cables, HV & Submarine Cables and the FP® range of fire resistant cables. Prysmian’s business executives will also hold an exclusive seminar entitled, “The right partner for the Power Industry throughout the Middle East”, at 10.00am on Tuesday 10 February in the Al Wasl Room.

MEE 2009 comes at a time of continued growth and activity for Prysmian in the region, where the Company is already carrying out and has completed several strategic power cable projects, particularly in UAE, Qatar and Bahrain. These include a 140 million euro project with Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) for the development of the first ever submarine cable turnkey project serving Doha, the capital of Qatar, and an 83 million euro contract for the construction of a high voltage underground cable system. These deals, and others in the pipeline, further confirm the strategic role Prysmian is playing in the Middle East as a major utilities partner for the current power transmission network expansion program.

The Prysmian product portfolio at MEE will display its wide range of Plant & Petrochem Cables - complex and integrated power, control and instrumentation systems for chemical, petrochemical, power or industrial plants. The range will include the innovative AirguardTM Cable System, a range of cables specially developed to offer significant improvement in mechanical protection of the cable. In addition it provides the same level of protection against aggressive fluids such as hydrocarbons, oils, fuels, acids and bases. Prysmian will as well be presenting its HV & Submarine cable solutions - for applications such as interconnections between High Voltage networks, interconnections between natural or artificial islands and the mainland, and connections to, or between, off-shore oil production facilities – And FP® range of fire resistant cables, designed and manufactured to meet the most demanding requirements and standards to ensure safety and safe operation under conditions of fire.

In the Middle East region, Prysmian has offices and facilities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi (UAE), Doha (Qatar), Manama (Bahrain) and Kuwait.
