Prysmian Group: Hakan Özmen appointed as new head of Global Telecom Business.

Prysmian, a leading worldwide player in the energy and telecom cable market, announces the appointment of Hakan Özmen as the new Head of The Global Telecom Cable and Fibre Business. Mr Özmen will take office on July 1st.

Born in 1970, Hakan Özmen graduated in Industrial Engineering from the Middle East Technical University in 1993 and obtained a Masters degree in Business Administration from Yeditepe University in Istanbul in 1999. For the last 4 years Mr Ozmen has been Chief Executive Officer of Prysmian Turkey.

Mr Ozmen succeeds Mr Giovanni B. Scotti who will leave the Company after 12 years, the last 9 of which were spent as Head of The Global Telecom Cable and Fibre Business. Mr Scotti has had a long and distinguished career in the industrial sector, previously working for companies including Magneti Marelli and GE Plastics in various executive international roles.

Prysmian is a worldwide major supplier of optical fibre and telecommunication cables. With 13 production facilities worldwide, Prysmian supplies a comprehensive portfolio of products including Optical Fibre, Optical Cable, FTTx System Solutions, Connectivity Hardware, Copper Cable and Premises/Data Cables. Amongst some of Prysmian’s key customers are Barthi Airtel, British Telecom, France Telecom, Qwest, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Telstra, Verizon and Vodafone. With the current global trend towards further broadband deployment Prysmian has recently been involved with major telecom operators in a number of strategic FTTH projects around the world.
