Aldo Bolza awarded the first-ever CIGRE Medal

Paris, France   -   24/08/2008 - 12:00 AM

During the opening session of the 2008 edition of CIGRE (Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Électriques – International Council on Large Electric Systems), which took place in Paris from August 24 to 29, Aldo Bolza, former R&D Director and now recently retired, was awarded the first CIGRE Medal for his outstanding contribution to the development of CIGRE over the years.

CIGRE is one of the leading worldwide Organizations on Electric Power Systems, covering their technical, economic, environmental, organisational and regulatory aspects.

With a forward looking original formula, combining a wide ranging international outlook, well-attended biennial Sessions in Paris, and, most important of all, ongoing technical work through its Study Committees, CIGRE has gained more and more success and undisputed leadership since its foundation in 1921.

Being awarded the first CIGRE Medal is a great honour and a source of pride not only for the recipient, Mr. Bolza but also for “his” company (as Mr. Bolza defined it in his speech) Prysmian Cables & Systems.

The Medal will become another important CIGRE tradition and represents a further acknowledgement and appreciation of the Prysmian technical expertise and leadership within the electric power industry.
