Prysmian achieved another important business success in the high-value added market of Fire Performance cables: our company has been awarded a new contract for the supply and installation of high performance cables in the new Singapore F1 Grand Prix Circuit, where in September 2008 will take place the first race held at night time in F1 history and the first street race in Asia.

Thanks to the visibility that this event will have in Singapore and in Asia in general and to the fact that is going to be the first ever night F1 race where the lighting is a key element for the safety to the pilots, Prysmian is confirming once again its own excellence into providing the most suitable solutions for different applications.

This important achievement follows other significant FP cables contracts recently secured by Prysmian worldwide, confirming our capability to carry out high-value added projects where life safety systems take on a critical meaning: the cabling of Wimbledon’s new Centre Court, the cabling of the Burj Dubai Tower, the tallest manmade structure in the world, and the Twickenham Stadium, the home of England Rugby, just to mention some of the most recent developments.

The 2008 Singapore Grand Prix will be held on the 26-28th of September, and 90.000 spectators are expected. Prysmian project includes a bespoke state-of-the-art lighting system that delivers optimal visibility for night race conditions to ensure spectators and drivers safety.

In order to ensure an excellent Lighting System, Prysmian cables will be used to supply current for 1,500 lighting projectors from 12 twin-power generators; power will be supplied also to electronic boards alongside the track for electronic flag displays traditionally waved by marshals to communicate with drivers.

As a supplier for Singapore Formula One Grand Prix night race circuit, Prysmian is required to provide the cutting services. The total cutting lengths is approximately 6,300 cuts.

This prestigious race is a further demonstration of Prysmian’s increasing growth in the field of building safety, in all the conditions where high performances and safety are required.
