The latest additions to Prysmian's passive optical access cable system offering will be presented at CommunicAsia 2008 in Singapore. June 17-20

Prysmian Cables & Systems, one of the world's leading players in the cable industry, will be presenting further additions to its extensive FTTH (Fibre to the Home) product range at CommunicAsia 2008 - Asia's leading communications and IT exhibition and conference which takes place in Singapore from June 17th to 20th.

Broadband services continue to roll-out at a rapid rate across the region driven by increasing levels of real content coupled with growing consumer demand for greater bandwidth - both downstream and upstream. Many operators and service providers now recognize that deploying optical fibre deeper into the access network is the only viable solution to supporting this demand and to providing a future-proofed network.

Prysmian will be demonstrating its full range of FTTH passive hardware including its CasaLightTM and CasaLightTM Plus, bend insensitive fibres together with a variety of cable solutions which address the different challenges posed by these 'last mile' customer connections. The Prysmian stand contains connectorised cable systems which illustrate how the different technologies are deployed in different environments with a special focus on high rise multi-dwelling units (MDUs) - a common feature in the region - for which Prysmian has developed its VertiCasaTM system

Director of Prysmian's global telecom cables and optical fibres business, Mr Giovanni B Scotti, who will be present at the event, commented "FTTH deployment continues to gather pace around the world, especially in the Asia Pacific region and specifically in Singapore where it will soon become a reality. The advantages of fibre to the end user are becoming more apparent and we see the move towards fibre-rich access networks as an irreversible trend. It is essential that we, as providers of the passive infrastructure, maintain our product innovation and development to enable efficient and cost effective deployment of these networks in line with this growing demand".
