Prysmian Cables & Systems (the former cable business of Pirelli) will be playing a major role at next week's International Wire and Cable Symposium (IWCS), being held at Providence, RI from 13th to 16th November.

The company, whose US headquarters is in Lexington, South Carolina where it has been producing optical cables for the country's telecommunications market for more than 20 years - will present four technical papers covering a wide range of topics including:- new designs and applications of optical fibre, advanced manufacturing methods for optical cable and new construction concepts for Optical Ground Wire (OPGW).

Prysmian's participation at this key event in the cable calendar emphasizes the company's determination to demonstrate that it is still very much 'business as usual'following the launch of its new name and that the ongoing commitment to R & D and product improvement remains as strong as ever.

Lexington-based Brian DiLascia, Vice President and General Manager of Prysmian Communications Cables and Systems USA, LLC, said: "The message we want to give at IWCS is very clear. Our name may have changed but our approach to the technical challenges of the business remains the same - success in our market is only achieved through a continuous effort to improve and innovate across our full product range, at all times focusing on the needs of our customers who require the highest quality, cost effective solutions".

The technical papers have all been prepared locally at the respective production facilities in USA, Brazil, Italy and Spain and representatives from each location will be present. Global R & D activities within Prysmian are managed and coordinated from company headquarters in Milan, Italy.

Prysmian will also be present in the Exhibition Hall section of the symposium (stand 228/230). Visitors will be able to meet senior representatives of the company and learn first hand about additional new products and developments within Prysmian.
