As ethernet network technology develops, industrial networks are getting smarter. Particularly in industries whose focus is on monitoring, control and data acquisition and visualisaton (SCADA applications). Multimedia applications are accelerating this trend and continuously adding new requirements. We see this particularly in larger facilities with comprehensive building management systems, such as hotels, hospitals (including patient rooms), fairgrounds and airports (passenger areas).
