New Installation capabilities for Submarine Cables

Installation capabilities

As one of the world’s largest cable manufacturers, we have to anticipate and meet the demands of the industry. In multiple locations across the globe. And in multiple different environments. And because the market never stays still, neither do we. Constantly investing time and resources so that our manufacturing capabilities and installation assets continue to cater to the latest demands. We are always improving and innovating, offering new installation solutions that range from off-the-shelf equipment to bespoke designs.

Our extensive track record means our knowledge of how to carry out a submarine cable installation is second to none – we make the best use of the available resources to ensure project efficiency and safety at all times. However challenging the conditions. From shallow water to deep water, from soft soils to hard soils, from single cable to bundled cables, we have the experience and assets to provide complete solutions across all manner of cable installations.

The new vessel is on its way

Prysmian will further expand its fleet to support the expansion of the global power transit network. The new cable-laying vessel will be very similar to Leonardo da Vinci, which exceeded all expectations in its first year of operations, being fully recognised by the market as the best-in-class vessel to meet the growing demand of the submarine cable industry.

Leonardo da Vinci

  • Length 171 m
  • Simultaneous laying and burial
  • DP3 capability
  • 2 carousels of 7000 tonnes and 10000 tonnes
