Prysmian Group Insight
FOCUS ON
“We are active in several areas
of business with our company in
Germany: electrical wholesale,
utilities, renewables, high-voltage
and a variety of areas with special
applications, such as infrastructure
projects, mining, cranes and
elevators, drinking water and
sewage pumps, rolling stock,
medical... just to name a few!” says
Hans Koch, Commercial Director
of Prysmian Group Germany. “Our
engineers and experts work every
day in each sector to research and
develop new products and solutions
supporting the sales departments in
order to better satisfy the requests
of customers.”
Koch explains that as Germany is
the strongest economy in Europe
and holds worldwide a leading
position in the field of technology
and quality, this market has
attractive business potential, while
a strong presence in Germany puts
Prysmian in a position to keep and
expand its global leadership in the
cable industry. “Anyone wanting to
play at the top worldwide, cannot
be missing in Germany,” Koch tells
INSIGHT.
Products and services from Prysmian
currently most in demand include
specialities. That includes rubber
materials such as HYDROFIRM and
TML for drinking-water applications,
and PROTOLON, CORDAFLEX and
TENAX for cranes, “which are fully
loaded or even overloaded,” explains
Koch. He sees great opportunities
for further expansion with special
products “Made in Germany” all
over the world and says Prysmian
is adjusting itself to exploit this
opportunity. Koch cites the Russian
mining market, where the Group
initiated a new approach to push
high added-value products like
FELTOFLEX, a unique high-voltage
flexible rubber cable solution. He
mentions another project bringing
together businesses from the
Danube region and Germany to fully
share manufacturing capabilities
and market opportunities. Koch
stresses that Prysmian “innovates
constantly and incessantly” and
mentions products for fire protection
like AFUMEX, highly flexible high-
voltage cables for the connection of
offshore wind farms like FELTOFLEX,
and intelligent product solutions
like PROTOLON IQ, in which a
cable reports in real time which
mechanical stress it is exposed to.
