As far as the building wires market is concerned, the Trade
& Installers business unit worked on numerous major
international projects over the course of 2012. Among the
major contracts, the Group has supplied high-tech power
cables for the new Macau Taipa ferry terminal in Macao
(China), a strategically important infrastructure for shipping
routes in the Guangdong area which includes the ports of
Macao, Hong Kong and Zhuhai. The contract involves the
design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning of
special fire-resistant cables, in collaboration with BBC Cable
Engineering, a local and very experienced partner in the
area.
In Sweden the Group has supplied around 500 km of halogen-
free cables for the power, telecommunication and lighting
systems of Tele2 Arena, the new, ultra-modern, multi-purpose
stadium in Stockholm, after being selected for its frontline
technology capable of guaranteeing safety and environmental
standards.
Several projects have also been completed in the United
Kingdom. These include the supply of Afumex LSX™, FP Plus™
and FP200 Gol® cables for the fire protection system at the
famous Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester and for
improving safety at the Royal Hospital in Bolton, Lancashire.
