23 Ozmen believes that the integration with General Cable was a great deal – the biggest acquisition of the last 20 years in the global cable industry in fact – that has had a positive effect on the Submarine business of the Group. With General Cable, Ozmen notes, “we are now able to capture a new product line – submarine telecom – and with the German facility of General Cable, we will have huge support from a production perspective for the long term and for the capacity increase that will be needed”. The German location is already doing a great deal for the medium-voltage submarine power sector, which, according to Ozmen, “will grow along with our presence in that market. General Cable is contributing very positively”. Around 1,700 applicants from all over the world suggested different names, a dedicated committee examined all the applications and finally chose the one that totally fits the requirement: Leonardo da Vinci. A name that has its roots in Prysmian Group’s history and activity, being linked to engineering, science, innovation, excellence and Italy.
