Prysmian ready to offer widest CPR-Compliant cable range

TECHNOLOGY

The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) ensures information on construction products’ performance is always reliable. CPR applies to power, control and communications cables intended to be incorporated in buildings and civil engineering works.

Before placing a product on the market, manufacturers have a legal obligation to draw up a Declaration of Performance (DoP) that identifies the product, its intended use and fire performance characteristics. This DoP and a CE marking will be attributed to every cable.

“CPR is a unique turning point to enhance the level of safety and quality in the European cable market and we are ready to lead the industry change”, states Valerio Battista, CEO Prysmian Group. “For any cable product intended to be used in construction works, this regulation guarantees a specified level of performance in relation to reaction to fire, resistance to fire and release of dangerous substances.”
