Crane Cables Terminal operators require ever-increasing performance of machines and methods. Cranes and lifts allow port and industrial plant operators to handle a wide range of vessels and bulky goods. They are specially designed to handle load and offload operations and move goods, powered by cables that are required to operate under the most extreme conditions and guarantee efficiency of power supply, performance and reliability. Prysmian Group Crane Cables support the safe and sustainable operations of the top 100 ports around the world and offer significant benefits to a broad variety of specialized industry professionals such as OEMs, specifiers, contractors, installers, terminal operators and more. Wherever there are unique or demanding crane requirements, our cable solutions are there. The high reliability of Prysmian Group‘s flexible reeling, festoon, basket and chain cables for cranes and material handling is based on the extensive know-how and experience about the special operational conditions of cranes and material handling equipment gained over many years of close cooperation with major terminal operators and crane and reel manufacturers. Our innovative designs and in-house formulated and produced materials translate into longer cable lifetime, and result into increased production, reduced downtime, and significantly lowered operational costs for our customers. Thanks to our track record of cable supplies for electrification projects, we have contributed to the reduction of CO2 emission produced in port infrastructures, e.g. conversion of diesel RTGs (Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane) into ERTGs (Electrified Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane) as well as short electrical connections for a vessel’s power supply replacing diesel engines used in the past for the same purpose. Prysmian Group is also a proud member of the Port Equipment Manufacturing Association (PEMA). The port industry is experiencing a transformation phase. Port operators are improving terminals’ energy efficiency and minimising port equipment emissions as well as logistic carbon footprint to comply with tightening environmental regulations. At the same time, seaborne trade is in continuous expansion, given the lower carbon footprint than road and air transportation. Vessel size, cargo volume and containers’ throughput are increasing, maritime logistic services are expanding, and port facilities require increasingly smart solutions to optimize operations and enhance efficiency. Keeping a port terminal moving is critical and the implications of handling equipment breakdowns can be significant and costly, that’s why high levels of efficiency, safety and reliability are mandatory requirements for all port equipment. 5 Prysmian Group’s Crane Cables are designed using special field-proven inhouse formulated high-grade mechanically resistant rubber compounds to withstand extreme conditions in terms of increased tensile loads, resistance to severe duty flexing and torsional stresses, minimum bending radius at any ambient temperature range and stress conditions and response to high travel speeds and acceleration. Our Crane Cables are designed to withstand the most severe situations and guarantee resistance to extreme conditions and harsh environments (such as high-speed, abrasion, oil, moisture, extreme low/hot temperature, UV irradiation and ozone). Prysmian Group designs, compounds andmanufactures cables according to specific customer needs, including multifunctional cables fromthe simplest to themost sophisticated. We guarantee an extended working lifetime (lower failure rate) in comparison with standard and traditional flexible electric cables for cranes and material handling equipment, resulting into lower total cost of ownership for our customers. It is our mission to be always ready to address demands and technical developments coming from newmarket challenges. Our innovation capabilities are always one step ahead.
