Prysmian Group celebrates opening of new South America headquarters in Brazil

It’s not just another gray factory. Prysmian Group chose a huge image of the Earth and green plants to welcome people to its new €35 million South America headquarters and plant in Brazil’s Sorocaba microregion.
This green and blue Earth covers an entire wall of the Sorocaba optical fibers factory and offices and is inspired by the same sustainable principles used to build the Group's global headquarters in Milan, with interior spaces designed to take advantage of the benefits of natural light.
In front of a stage set up for the occasion, 400 employees, managers and special clients celebrated an important step forward for the Group and its 90th anniversary in Brazil.
It’s not just another gray factory, and it’s a big step forward in Prysmian’s goal of building its competitive strength in a fast-growing region.

The new headquarters replaces the previous Santo André plant and integrates General Cable and Prysmian staff into a new shared workspace.

Part of the investment was spent on upgrading the Poços de Caldas plant, demonstrating that South America and Brazil are strategic markets for the group. It is a region where the integration with General Cable has improved its competitiveness and positioning.  

The Sorocaba now has bigger production capacity for power cables, optical and metal data transmission cables, as well as special automotive industry cables lines. A new 23,000-square-metre distribution area and a cutting-edge R&D laboratory mean that the facility has everything it needs to become a centre of excellence for the entire group.
