How Prysmian Group’s Sell It program sold me

Izumi Kobayashi, Business Development Manager at Prysmian South America, tells the reason why she joined last year’s edition of Sell It, beginning a new career in our company.

With these candid words Izumi Kobayashi, amongst the new hires of the first edition of Sell It held in 2017, explains why she applied to the Prysmian Group’s career advancement program dedicated to sales professionals all around the world.

Izumi was so captured by the program and the benefits she saw in a career at Prysmian that, after she knew her application was successful, she decided to leave her job with the Microsoft Chilean branch, started two years before.

Sell It just sold her on Prysmian, literally, along with many other young sales professionals from all around the world, who are now strongly committed to support and extend the reach of the relationship between the Group and its customers, while developing the business as well.

Sell It is not a only a recruiting process, but an invitation by Prysmian to candidates to invest in themselves and in their skills, without compromising with their expectations: “Through the Sell It program, I get to interface with my manager and my mentor – they are committed to helping me grow professionally while holding me to even higher standards in what I can do for a single project, the team, or the Group as a whole”. Moreover, during the induction, Izumi joined a bright and composite class made up of people coming from 19 different countries, with a remarkable female presence that shows quite well how important diversity is in Prysmian Group.

 

 
 
 

“Thanks to the Sell It Program I found friends, as well as colleagues. Even if we are from different cultures all over the world, we have developed a strong community, constantly talking and advising each other about business and career development. Teamwork is what helps me keep focused and it’s very impressive how we all have matching goals and are interested in success for the whole Group. This is very interesting about the recruiting process, Prysmian found people with very similar interests and with matching personalities. This is what makes the difference”, stated Izumi.

“I know that I can always count on my team in Sorocaba (Brazil), but I now feel that the MMS South American project is fully my own, too. At Prysmian, you have to be serious about sales – and even though it’s about reaching your goals while remaining customer-driven, the Group is focused on your growth as a person and as a professional

 

Together with mentoring, Izumi describes the importance of the training and the educational programs offered by Prysmian Group: “Through Sell It, I get to have the unbelievable opportunity to be trained over 3 years at internationally recognized Business Schools in Italy, the USA and ASEAN. This chance, along with meeting and getting trained by experts in our field has really opened my eyes and allowed me to really grow within the Company”. Thus, a career in Prysmian is not just work, but may become the springboard for the future career tracks of the participants of Sell It: My goal is to bring internet everywhere in South America – from creating smart houses, offices and buildings to Smart Cities. In short, I want to connect South America to the future”.
