Prysmian Group – Verizon: a “best in class” partnership

Prysmian Group will partner with the US telecom company Verizon Communications to support its‘One Fiber’ project. The American company claims that its 100% fiber-optic network will transform Boston into one of America’s most technologically advanced cities. Zones across the city will then be consecutively ‘fibred up’. Verizon Fios (Fiber Optic Service) is a bundled Internet Access, telephone, and television service that operates over a fiber optic communications network.

The new architecture is designed to improve Verizon’s 4G LTE coverage, speed the deployment of 5G, and deliver high-speed broadband to homes and businesses of all sizes.

Prysmian Group - Verizon contract will include supply of more than 17 million fibre kilometres of different types of ribbon and loose tube cables. Duration has been set at three years. Verizon had three main reasons for choosing Prysmian. The first was existing company and product qualifications and the performance of such provided by Prysmian to Verizon between the years 2004 – 2011. Second was Prysmian capitalization and our potential to invest in capacity and product for Verizon. Thirdly, Verizon viewed Prysmian’s team - sales, finance, operations, logistics, engineering & executive involvement - as best in class.
