Selling excellence in China: fire resistant cables installed in the new Suzhou Children Hospital.

Prysmian Group signed a contract of 3 mln € to supply fire resistant cables for the new Suzhou Children Hospital.

The hospital facilities will occupy 94,800 sqm, in the initial phase 600 beds will be available including over 7,000 sqm for outpatient clinics, 14 OR’s, a full service emergency department, imaging, and required support. Other major programme elements include a teaching/research and administration facility, staff housing, a separate infectious disease facility, and initial parking for 800 cars.

The company will supply Low Voltage and Medium Voltage plastic insulated cables that are halogen free and are specific for fire alarm systems and emergency lighting systems with excellent data and signal transmission characteristics. This kind of cables in case of fire emits very low levels of smoke, non-toxic levels of halogen acid gas and reduces the spread of flame, safeguarding human life and protecting buildings and equipment. In particular these cables allow speedy installation and termination by the installer with ultimate electrical safety.

According to Max Bian, E&I Commercial Director in China, “The client chose our products first of all for the quality we can guarantee: in fact we have experience and know-how to meet customer’s needs. Our most important purpose here in China, where all is growing fast, is to sell our excellence and boost our presence taking part to the important projects that are work in progress.”

The cables, produced at the Prysmian Suzhou plant, will be delivered by the end of 2014. The facility, due to be completed in 2015, will replace the existing hospital and has been designed with all the latest concepts in paediatric healthcare delivery in mind.
