The showcased range will include innovative Drylam™ and Airguard™,
special cable solutions with enhanced resistance to critical environments.

The new Prysmian-Draka Group will further enhance its offer in the O&G market.

Prysmian Cables & Systems - leading world player in the energy and telecommunications cable industry - will be present at Oil & Gas Asia (OGA) 2011, the Region’s key show in the O&G industry, taking place in Kuala Lumpur from June 1st to 3rd (stand 1811, hall 1-2), with its latest technological innovations specifically designed for the Oil & Gas industry.

As an outcome of the currently on-going merger, the new group resulting from the integration between Prysmian and Draka will leverage an extended product offering in the OGP cable market. The new group will be able to cover comprehensively both the EPC and distributors’ sales channels. At OGA 2011 the Group – new worldwide leader in the cable industry – will rely on outstanding presence of members from both the Prysmian and Draka teams.

At OGA, Prysmian’s product portfolio will stand out not only for its well-known wide range of traditional Off-shore and Plant & Petrochem cable solutions but also for the Group’s commitment to innovation. On display there will be specialties such as Drylam™ and Airguard™ Cable System, cable solutions specifically designed for critical environments, with enhanced resistance to hydrocarbons and moisture aggression, reduced diameters and lower environmental impact vs. lead-sheathed cables and with increased mechanical protection, lighter weight, improved flexibility and shorter installation times compared to traditional armoured cables.

OGA 2011 represents an excellent opportunity to reinforce the visibility of the Group’s strong presence in the Asia Pacific region, a key area for Prysmian’s expansion strategy, especially in the high value-added markets, where the Group is gaining increased consensus in the Region’s OGP sector. In the Asia Pacific region, Prysmian has offices and facilities in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia, China and India.

Recently, Prysmian has been awarded two major contracts to supply special cables for application in the OGP industry with SAIPEM, a world leading contractor in the O&G industry. Among other projects in which the Group has been recently involved are some of the largest, most strategic and technologically advanced developments such as the Kashagan Oil Field in Kazakhstan, Seadrill, Petrorig and Hull (series) semi-submersibles and jack-up drilling units, the Shell Nanhai petrochemical complex in China, Pluto LNG in Australia and the Second Parallel Train for Exxon Refinery in Singapore.

These achievements again demonstrate Prysmian’s leading position and the validity of the Group’s know-how and technologies in the development of state-of-the art cable systems and the commitment to support global O&G companies with a wide range of Offshore and Plant & Petrochem cables, Umbilical and Flexible Pipes.
