Engineers at Prysmian’s centers of manufacturing excellence for submarine cable production have been preparing for a year to ensure perfect execution of the company’s largest-ever production run for High Voltage Alternating Current (HVAC) export cables: 9 independent Export Cables for a total length of 566 km.
The export cables will be produced in Arco Felice, Italy, and Pikkala, Finland, while the inter-array cables will be manufactured in Nordenham, Germany. To manufacture the cables for his project, Prysmian has added additional storage capacity at its Pikkala plant.
The order will keep the two plants (Pikkala and Arco Felice) running for over two years through to April 2025, while one of the next steps will be to start production of the inter-array cables at Nordenham.
