Today, we launch our Side by Side Global Maternity Policy. This is a way to celebrate all the mothers that work in our company and also to allow them to benefit from a global minimum caring standard, especially in those countries where local legislations regarding maternity are less generous.

It represents one of the first global concrete actions to ensure that all the new mothers working in Prysmian Group deserve equal minimum caring standards.

The Global Maternity Policy features the following provisions:

  • 12 weeks of minimum full paid maternity leave, which inclusively covers both birth biological mothers and legally adoptive mothers;
  • support & back-to-work program, intended as a set of actions that can ensure a smooth re-integration process into the workplace for the new mothers.

Prysmian Group strongly believes that gender, age and cultural diversity drives meritocracy and brings significant value at all levels of the organization, increases the possibility of capturing market opportunities and maximizing value for our customers and shareholders. Workplace diversity promotes mutual respect among employees, builds a strong culture and reputation internally and externally in the market and more broadly, increases creativity and productivity, and promotes compliance with local legal requirements.

While supporting diversity and inclusion, Prysmian Group also aims at creating tools and conditions that allow all the employees to better manage their unique life and work.

In accordance with this approach, Prysmian Group also recognizes the high value of parenthood for the personal and professional development of its people.

This Global Maternity Policy represents a concrete action at a global level to support parents. It promotes practices that can help new mothers, biological and adoptive, to:

  •  have a healthy start in the life of their children or during the very first months after an adoptive child becomes part of their family;
  • preserve their well-being and ensure a smooth and successful transition back to work.

In relationship to the principle “gender equality, the Global Maternity Policy will also support the gender balance targets Prysmian Group has set for 2022, as it aims to ensure our female employees are not being penalized for the time and attention they have to reserve to children in their role of new mothers.
