Optical Fibres from Prysmian Group at OFC 2017

Prysmian Group will be showcasing its advanced BendBrightXS 200 µm bend insensitive optical fibre for high density cables and its new next-generation WideCap-OM5 multimode fibre for data center networks this week at OFC 2017.

The Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC), taking place on March 19-23 at Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, California, is the largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals.

OFC exhibition visitors will be able to see Prysmian’s advanced multimode and single mode fibres at Booth 2647, where WideCap-OM5 multimode fibre and BendBrightXS 200 µm bend insensitive single mode fibre will be on display, together with live demonstrations of  few mode fibres for space division multiplexing and 40G-SWDM4 transmission over 500 m using WideCap-OM5. WideCap-OM5 offers high bandwidth from 850-950 nm and is backward compatible with OM4 multimode fibre. WideCap-OM5 enhances the performance and extends the reach of WDM transceivers.

Moreover, 7 papers from Prysmian and collaborators will be discussed in the technical conference. Prysmian researchers will discuss how next-generation multimode fibres can be optimized to support wavelength division multiplexing operations in data communications and space division multiplexing operations in telecommunications to allow migration to higher bit rates and achieve higher capacity. Prysmian will also discuss its advancements on Space Division Multiplexing amplifiers and devices.
