Prysmian to develop the first HV underground cable power link in Montenegro

Ready to take part in tenders for new projects that may arise in this area

Milan, 17 February 2017 - Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, announces the successful completion of the first high voltage underground cable power link developed by the Group in Montenegro. Prysmian was awarded the project by Energomontaza, a Serbian company specialising in the design, construction and maintenance of electric power transmission lines up to 400 kV, all-voltage-level electricity substations, as well as telecoms and fixed and mobile telephone systems throughout southern Europe.

Prysmian supplied the 110 kV cable system with integrated optical fibre and related accessories, together with the on-site installation supervision along the Niksic–Klicevo route in Montenegro. The cables were produced in the Pikkala plant (Finland), one of the Group’s centres of excellence for very high voltage cable production and technology; all the accessories of the Speed™ product range installed were produced in the Italian plant in Livorno. The entire system was installed by Prysmian Italia’s team of technical specialists.

“This project — run in full collaboration with our Serbian customer — has been a great success: the partnership was fundamental for developing a solution in line with the customer’s requirements,” stated Cristiano Pala, HV Sales Manager Italy. “We are ready to take part in tenders for new projects that may arise in this European area where there is major infrastructure development, also supported by the collaboration we have established with local partners who know the area, like Energomontaza,” he added.
