Milan, 27 February 2017 - Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, announces it has recently supplied low voltage cables for shipboard application, for a total amount of about €450,000. The project was awarded to Prysmian by Cantiere Navale Visentini S.r.l., a company specialised in the series construction of large ferry-boats used both in the Mediterranean and the seas of Northern Europe.

Prysmian has supplied about 200km of systems made up of FHFXU-A cables, most of which are flexible, screened, armoured and unarmoured, and fire-resistant. The cables, manufactured in the Group’s production facility at Giovinazzo (Bari), were delivered to the customer last September and will be used to build a ferry — in the shipyard at Porto Viro (Rovigo) — for navigation and container transportation in the seas of Northern Europe.

This agreement has strengthened the Group’s relationship of trust and collaboration with Cantiere Visentini. There are already plans for new projects in which Prysmian will play an active role as a supplier.

“The Cantiere Visentini ferry project is very important for our company because it is a further confirmation of trust and mutual collaboration. It also highlights the leading role that Prysmian plays for this shipbuilder, having been its key supplier for all shipboard cables for years,” stated Salvatore Greco, Prysmian Italia Sales Manager. “It is for this reason that Cantiere Visentini continues to choose and work with Prysmian, showing its confidence in our company’s innovative products,” he added.
