The CPR transition period will start on July 1st 2016

Except for limited derogations, the CPR introduces a mandatory Declaration of Performance (DoP) and the CE marking on fire performance for cables used in EU construction works, necessary to place the products on the EU market.

The EU Commission has published on 10th July 2015 the standard EN 50575 in the Official Journal C226/49.

For legalistic reasons in October 2015 EU Commission has demanded an amendment of EN 50575 which a.o. must refer in a different way to the Low Voltage Directive LVD (where applicable). This amendment has no significant practical consequences for the industry other than a delayed implementation.

EU Commission moved the Date of Applicability (DoA) from 1st December 2015 to 1st July 2016; the co-existence period will remain 1 year, so transition period will end now 1st July 2017.

The procedure to amend the EN50575 is already started. Europacable members are giving all efforts to assure the timely conclusion of the procedure.

Through strong R&D activities, central project coordination and a multifunctional team for each country, Prysmian Group is fully committed to get the best out of CPR and to ensure a smooth transition in all countries for all the supply chain, from cable manufacturing to end users.
