Winning start for Prysmian ITA 747

Prysmian ITA 747, the prototype helmed by Giancarlo Pedote, has collected a series of important successes in all the races it has entered since mid April to date.

Making its debut on 14 April in the Demi-Clé 6.50 race, the Prysmian sponsored yacht crossed the finishing line in Pornichet, 150 miles later, third out of 55 participants.

During the second race of the season, the Pornichet Select on 21 April, Giancarlo Pedote and his new prototype, perfected together with David Raison, winner of the MiniTransat 2011, demonstrated their ability to cope with adverse weather conditions and winds of up to 35 knots, causing the course to be shortened and 38 out of 55 sailors to give up, by crossing the finishing line in fifth place 30 hours after the start.

It is along the rugged Brittany coastline that Prysmian 747 has had its greatest success to date by arriving first in La Trinité-Plymouth, a 280 mile race from Quiberon Bay across the Channel to England, thanks to the strategy studied on dry land and the various helming methods tested.

These important milestones reflect Prysmian's commitment and passion for the world of sailing and its adventures. The next events in which Prysmian ITA 747 is taking part are the UK Fastnet 6.50 from 13 to 20 May, the Trophée Marie-Agnès-Péron in France from 31 May to 2 June, the Mini Fastnet in June and Les Sables - Les Açores - Les Sables in August, with the long-term goal of TransAt 6.50 2013, from Douarnenez to Guadalupe.
