On display state-of-the-art technologies and services to support the wind power industry
The new Prysmian Draka Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cables and systems industry, will present its state-of-the-art range of products and services for the wind power industry at the 2012 edition of the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) Annual Event (formerly known as EWEC) that will take place in Copenhagen (Denmark) from April 16 to 19 - Stand B10, hall C5.

Thanks to the merger between Prysmian and Draka, the Prysmian Group can leverage on a wider geographical presence - with an extended footprint in more than 50 countries – and, focusing on fast-changing customers needs, can offer a comprehensive and enlarged product portfolio and services, taking position in the market as a one stop supplier for the whole wind power industry. The range on display during the exhibition will include AC and DC high power transmission capacity submarine cable systems to connect windmills among them and to ensure the connection with the power supply network, advanced turbine cabling solutions with high resistance to abrasion, UV radiations, corrosion, bending and torsion stress for increased efficiency, reliability and safety, specifically designed to meet highly demanding conditions of plants and installation areas, including also harnessed “plug and play“ cable sets (pre-connectorised cables for fast installation in all type of turbine) and other Tower Internals.

Long term growth perspectives in the renewable energy sector have taken the Prysmian Group to further strengthen its commitment to this strategic and added-value market, which is key to the Group’s development strategy. In northern Europe, the Group is playing a key role in the development of power connections for offshore wind farms, with projects either completed or ongoing in Denmark, Holland, UK and in Germany. The latest high-profile development that better represents the key role played by the Prysmian Group in the wind power industry is the Western HVDC Link submarine interconnection that will enable power transmission from renewable sources in Scotland to consumption centers in England that will operate at the record voltage level of 600 kV, the highest rate ever reached. To further highlight the ever-increasing commitment in the renewable energy sector, it’s worth mentioning that the Prysmian Group is an active part of “Friends of the Supergrid” an organization aimed at promoting and supporting the development of a Pan-European power-grid for the utilization of power coming from renewable sources.

These achievements again demonstrate Prysmian’s leading position and the validity of the Group’s know-how and technologies in the development of state-of-the-art cables and systems and the commitment to support smarter and greener power grids worldwide.
