P-Laser boosts the largest solar park in Europe

Prysmian Group Italy has just received a major order worth about €4 million from EN.IT SpA, an Italian limited company, for the supply of medium voltage and fibre optic cables plus accessories for the construction of the largest photovoltaic plant in Europe.

The plant, known as "Vega", is currently being built in the town of Troia near Foggia, in the heart of Southern Italy. The photovoltaic park is owned by Troia FV1 ASI SpA, which is jointly controlled by EN.IT SpA and Solarhybrid AG. Construction has already begun and will be completed by February 2012. Powered by polycrystalline panels, the plant will produce up to 123 MW in power.

The Group will be supplying a total of 415 km in P-Laser cable (18/30 kV medium-voltage 1x400 mm2) along with all the medium voltage accessories (joints and terminations) needed to connect up with the national grid, as well as 76 km of fibre optic cables. All the cables supplied will be manufactured at the Pignataro Maggiore plant.

This is an important contract for the Group’s Italian subsidiary, after many years of experience in the renewable energy market and of focusing on environmental sustainability in keeping with the Group’s CSR philosophy
