Prysmian’s wide range of cables and systems for the oil and gas industry on display at OSEA 2010

Prysmian, leading worldwide player in the energy and telecommunication cables industry, will be present with its latest technological innovations, specifically designed for the Oil & Gas industry, at OSEA – the largest and most established Oil & Gas exhibition and conference in the Asia Pacific region, taking place at Suntec Singapore from November 30th to December 3rd, 2010 - stand 4J3-01, Level 4.

At OSEA, the Prysmian’s product portfolio - in addition to its well-known wide range of traditional Offshore and Plant & Petrochem cable solutions, incorporating complex and integrated energy power, control and instrumentation systems for chemical, petrochemical, power or industrial plants and complying with the strictest and severest international and local standards and specifications - will stand out also for its commitment to innovation. On display there will be specialties such as Drylam™ and Airguard™ Cable System, cable solutions specifically designed for critical environments, with enhanced resistance to hydrocarbons and moisture aggression, reduced diameters and lower environmental impact vs. lead-sheathed cables and with increased mechanical protection, lighter weight, improved flexibility and shorter installation times compared to traditional armoured cables. FP® fire resistant cables, Umbilicals and Submarine cable solutions will complete the portfolio on display.

Strategically held in Singapore - “the oil hub of Asia” - OSEA 2010 will be the largest edition in its 34 years history. The event is expected to see the participation of over 22,000 business and thought leaders, industry professionals and government officials from 60 countries and regions. It represents an excellent opportunity to reinforce the visibility of the Group’s strong presence in the Asia Pacific region, a key area for Prysmian’s expansion strategy, especially in the high value-added markets, where special products and services are required such as extra high voltage and submarine cable systems, industrial cables for the Oil & Gas industry, including sub-sea installation technologies and services for offshore exploitation.

In the Asia Pacific region Prysmian has offices and facilities in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia, China and India. It is currently involved in high-profile projects for the development of power infrastructures with first high voltage contracts secured in India and a 500 kV underground cable system for Anhui Xiangshuijian Pumped Storage Co. Ltd – a China State Grid subsidiary - in China. In the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical and Chemical industry prestigious projects both completed and currently ongoing such as Seadrill, Petrorig, Hull ND Maersk Oil (series) semi-submersible and jack-up drilling units built by Jurong Shipyards and Keppel Fels, Pluto LNG in Australia and the Second Parallel Train for Exxon Refinery in Singapore.

These achievements again demonstrate Prysmian’s leading position and the validity of the Group’s know-how and technologies in the development of state-of-the art cable systems and the commitment to support global O&G companies with a wide range of offshore and plant & petrochem cables, umbilicals and flexible pipes. Among other projects in which Prysmian has recently been involved in the Oil and Gas industry both on-shore and offshore are some of the largest, most strategic and technologically advanced developments. Kashagan Oil Field in Kazakhstan, EMAL Aluminum Smelter and Borouge Polyolefines Plant in Abu Dhabi, QAFCO Fertilizer in Qatar (the largest fertilizer in the world) and LNG 2 in Yemen rely on state-of-the- art Prysmian cable systems.
