Milan   -   10/09/2008 - 02:00 AM

Prysmian Cables & Systems, a worldwide leading Group in the sector of cables and systems for energy and telecommunications, will present its latest range of Rolling Stock and Railway Products at the INNOTRANS Exhibition, taking place in Berlin from 23 to 26 September 2008.

2008 is being a very important year for Prysmian's Railway and Rolling Stock business, with new EN Standards replacing local standards worldwide and with the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) being implemented in Prysmian’s Rolling Stock and Railway manufacturing sites in Germany, France, Spain, Italy and China.
In the last few years, the development of rolling stock technology has been largely driven by the implementation of high speed train network technologies. This development covers rolling stock for underground, mass transit lines and tramlines as well as diesel and regional trains. The increasing need to reduce both volume and weight has led to the development of miniaturized cables, as well as high temperature cables with enhanced performance.

TEROL Rolling Stock Cables provide a full range of products according to the new EN Standards: Medium Wall power and control EN 50264 cables, High Temperature according to EN 50382 and Thin Wall designs following EN 50306. The materials used have been specially developed to improve mechanical and thermal properties, fire performance and extended life using advanced technologies, such as electron beam irradiation, silicon materials, and silane.
The rapid development of railway technologies in recent years has impacted all areas, from mass transit to high-speed lines, with commercial traveling speed up to 360km/h. The railway systems themselves, from DC to 2x25 kV AC, have undergone a similar evolution. System complexity and reliability, as well as safety, are the key results of this remarkable change.
TERAIL Cabling Solutions for Railway & Underground include the development of Power, Signaling & Communication Cables with high levels of performance in terms of chemical and mechanical resistance, fire resistance, EMC behavior and transmission capacity.

"Prysmian is very proud to participate once again at the INNOTRANS Exhibition, the world's largest and foremost event for Transport Industry & Railway Technology", said Eric Xirinachs, Transportation Business Manager, Prysmian Headquarters. "INNOTRANS gives a unique opportunity to address the broadest possible client base in a single event, and as such enables us to introduce our latest products and technologies purposely designed and developed for Rolling Stock and Railway sector. INNOTRANS also allows us to underline our engagement and commitment to this very important and growing market".
