Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA next week plays host to the 56th International Wire and Cable Symposium (IWCS) where the world's leading cable producers will meet to present and discuss the latest technical innovations in the industry.

Prysmian Cables & Systems will play a major role in events and will present a total of six technical papers related to new developments in the telecoms environment many of which are driven by the current surge in the broadband market.

Two of the papers relate to new cables for Fibre to the Home - FTTH - applications, one for indoor and the other for outdoor deployment.  A further two papers look at the subject of optical fibre and how Prysmian has optimized its product range to suit the needs of the access network with both bend insensitive and reduced diameter fibre. Finally two papers are devoted more to long distance applications and look at the electrical and thermal performance enhancements in Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) cables for use on high voltage overhead transmission lines.

The papers are the result of development work carried out both at local production facilities in Australia, Brazil and Italy and also at Prysmian's Central R & D headquarters in Milan, Italy and emphasize the company's ongoing commitment to constant product improvement and innovation in the rapidly developing telecoms environment

In addition, during the conference Executive Forum, Mr Martin Hanchard, CEO of Prysmian Cables & Systems, North America, will join a panel of other leading industry experts in a debate on current key issues in the cable business.

Prysmian is pleased to support IWCS as a Partner Sponsor for this event which will run from November 11th to 14th at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and Convention Center, Lake Buena Vista, Florida - www.iwcs.org
