25% weight savings with Star Quad KL

Our engineers win third prize in the DuPont Plunkett Awards for the development of its new innovative Ultra Light Star-Quad data cable KL24.

USA

This innovative development was made possible by long-term relation and collaboration we promote with our suppliers. Thanks to this collaboration and the great support of Prysmian Group, we developed an innovative material that reduces by 25% weight of the normal Star Quad.

The challenge was to lower the weight without changing the dimensional aspects, particularly the diameter, to allow our customers to keep compatibility with existing contacts, connectors and tools. This approach enables our customer to replace previous Star Quad with limited certification work. Airbus Group implemented successfully Ultra Light Star Quad KL24, in its brand-new A350 program.
